Graphite electrodes are widely used, mainly used in electric furnace steelmaking, submerged thermal electric furnaces, resistance furnaces, etc.
1. Graphite electrodes are used in electric arc steelmaking furnaces
The main user is electric furnace steelmaking. Electric furnace steelmaking uses graphite electrodes to introduce current into the furnace. A strong current generates arc discharge through gas at the lower end of the electrode, and the heat generated by the arc is used for smelting. According to the capacity of the electric furnace, different diameters are used. In order to make the electrodes used continuously, the electrodes are connected by electrode threaded joints. The graphite electrodes for steelmaking account for about 70-8-% of the total amount of graphite electrodes.
2. User Submerged Thermal Electric Furnace
The submerged electric furnace is mainly used for the production of ferroalloy, pure silicon, yellow phosphorus, matte and calcium carbide. Its characteristic is that the lower part of the conductive electrode is buried in the charge, so in addition to the heat generated by the arc between the electric plate and the charge, heat is also generated by the resistance of the charge when the current passes through the charge. One ton of yellow phosphorus consumes about 40kg of graphite electrodes.
3. For resistance furnace
Graphitization furnaces for the production of graphite products, furnaces for melting glass and electric furnaces for the production of silicon carbide are all resistance furnaces. Usually, the conductive graphite electrode is inserted into the furnace head wall at the end of the hearth, so the conductive electrode is not continuously consumed.
In addition, a large number of graphite electrode blanks are also used for processing into various crucibles, graphite boats, hot die casting molds and vacuum furnace heating elements and other special-shaped products. For example, in the quartz glass industry, 10t of graphite electrode blanks are required for each production of 1t of capacitor tubes, and 100kg of electrode blanks are consumed for each production of 1t of quartz bricks.
